Over 60 million acres of desert land where the Shoshone have lived for, possibly, 10,000 &#8211; 12,000 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the middle of Newe Sogobia, is Nevada Test Site. This means that the NTS belongs to the Western Shoshone. Furthermore, they have never given permission for the land to be poisoned and desecrated by the detonation of nuclear weapons, or the storage of high-level nuclear waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Newe Sogobia means \u201cthe people&#8217;s earth mother,\u201d and this is exactly how the Shoshone see their relationship to the planet. The earth is our mother, and as such, we need to treat her with respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1863 Treaty of Ruby Valley establishes that the land is the Shoshone&#8217;s, and they grant the passage across their land. &#8220;To go, gather and come,&#8221; is the welcoming agreement on the part of the Shoshone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the United States government still took their land and since 1951 have detonated 2000 nuclear bombs, above-ground until 1963 and then underground until 1993.  And to this day, the DOE continues to conduct sub-critical tests and component tests which further the understanding of the nuclear weapons arsenal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/americanpeacetest.org\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=39&amp;action=edit\">Corbin Harney<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/americanpeacetest.org\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=42&amp;action=edit\">Bill Rosse<\/a>, both regular participants in APT actions at the Test Site as representatives of the Western Shoshone, spoke deeply about that the Mother Earth is alive, the rocks and the water hold the spirits of the world and that every care needs to be taken to ensure her good health and long life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Newe Sogobia, the people&#8217;s earth mother Newe Sogobia, an enormous stretch of land, reaches from Death Valley, California, across Nevada and into Idaho and Utah.
